About St. Croix Yacht Club
Nestled in the beautiful hills on the shore of Teague Bay, the St. Croix Yacht Club was formed for the express purpose of promoting interest and activity in the ownership, racing and cruising of yachts and small boats; of providing a meeting place for members whose common interest lies in ships and the sea; of augmenting the recreational facilities and visitor attractions of the island; of exchange and courtesies with other yacht clubs of the United States and Caribbean islands, and of extending to visiting yachtsmen the hospitality of St. Croix.
The club was founded in 1952, and currently has 500 members. Since 1993, the yacht club has hosted an annual regatta, run completely by volunteers. The 17th St. Croix International Regatta is now affiliated with the National Hospice Regatta Alliance, with fiscal non-profit sponsorship of the St. Croix Foundation. New race courses, including a long distance course especially designed for novice racers and live-aboard cruising vessels will augment the traditional courses that appeal to hard-core racers with high-tech boats. Optimist dinghy racing draws the younger set onto the bay.
As in the past, shore-side activities will include the famous Cruzan Rum welcome party (500+ guests), complimentary continental breakfast, live musical entertainment and a weigh-in for the winning skipper's weight in Cruzan Rum.
